8 weeks pregnant symptoms

Here are a few common symptoms reported at eight weeks of pregnancy. Also read about Just found out im pregnant.

Morning Sickness

At eight weeks of pregnancy, it is not uncommon for women to struggle with keeping things down. Nausea and vomiting, or what is referred to as ‘Morning Sickness’ is a common symptom at this stage of pregnancy. Unlike the condition suggests, ‘Morning Sickness’ is not limited to the mornings. ‘Morning Sickness’ can happen at any time of the day. Though the exact cause is unknown, it is thought to be attributed to the surge in hormones that pregnant women experience.

Skin Changes

Speaking of hormones surges, at eight weeks of pregnancy, it is not uncommon to experience acne or skin discoloration. Unfortunately, not everyone experiences the wonderful ‘glow’ associated with pregnancy. Instead, some women develop melasma, also known as pregnancy mask, a dark discoloration that develops in a symmetrical shape over a woman’s face. This coupled with changes in the oil levels of the skin are credited with contributing to acne on the skin. The good news is that the condition typically subsides upon delivery of the baby.

Fatigue

Feeling tired these days? Fatigue is a common symptom experienced by pregnant women. Get used to it. It’s your body’s way of reminding you that you need to get enough rest for two.

Ligament Pain

Believe it or not, you are at risk for some ligament pain at this stage of pregnancy. In fact, some women complain of experiencing pain in the pelvic region upon standing or twisting. Keep in mind that the uterus is slowly growing in size at this time and can create a bit of strain on those supporting ligaments.

Breast Enlargement

It’s time to go shopping for a good supportive, maternity bra. While you may not be showing elsewhere, chances are your breasts are already becoming enlarged.  In time, this can become very uncomfortable, to the point that your average bra does not lend the necessary support. A maternity bra will come in handy for the duration of your pregnancy.

Frequent Trips to the Bathroom

At eight weeks of pregnancy, you may have noticed that the frequency in which you are going to the bathroom to urinate has picked up. Get used to it! As the baby continues to grow, this newly formed habit will become a regular symptom of your pregnancy.

Bleeding

Bleeding is another symptom that may occur at eight weeks of pregnancy. Did you know that 25% of pregnant women experience spotting or bleeding in their first trimester of pregnancy? If you do experience spotting or bleeding and have any concerns, you should contact your treating physician as soon as possible.

These are just a few symptoms that women might experience at eight weeks of pregnancy.
